Weber anticipates after an eventful spring and summer during which she completed a quadruple crown of girls wrestling titles with her second Junior Women's Freestyle National Championship in three years....

      Kearsley graduate Travis Pettengill will continue his wrestling career at Meramac Community College in St. Louis. The 215-pounder was 32-0 last before disciplinary problems ended his season after he won a second Big Nine title and third County championship. He was a state champion in 2007 and finished with a 166-32 career record, going 87-0 his junior and senior years....

      DAVISON, Michigan -- Roy Hall simply could not walk away from the empire he built. In early April, Hall announced his resignation as Davison's wrestling coach after a 309-48-1 record in 10 seasons, including six state championships. When the job and the accompanying teaching position did not draw the interest the school expected, Hall decided to return. The school made it official Monday....

      Only one wrestler in each state is selected for the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award, and the selection committee at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame has shown a fondness for Flint-area grapplers. Goodrich's Mark Weber recently became the area's sixth recipient of the award in the past seven years. He joins Davison's Chase Metcalf (2002), Paul Donahoe (2004) and Brent Metcalf (2005) and Jon Reader (2006) and Lapeer West's Roger Kish (2003)....

      Stuart Bauer | The Flint JournalDavison's Justin McDermitt had a 50-2 record and won the 140-pound state Division 1 title. He is coming off a dominant senior season during which he was hardly challenged in capturing a state championship, and several NCAA Division I wrestling programs are clamoring for him. That makes it especially hard to believe that Davison's Justin McDermitt once considered quitting the sport before he had hardly begun....
